St. Gaudens was one of America’s preeminent sculptors. His sculptures are featured in numerous public collections including: The Carnegie Museum of Art, The National Gallery of Art, The National Portrait Gallery, The Smithsonian American Art Museum, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. This amazingly talented sculptor also had an interest in numismatics. He designed the $10 Indian Head, as well as the 1907 $20 Gold Double Eagle. This antiqued bronze medal was originally designed to honor Saint Gaudens as a sculptor by the Medallic Arts Society in 1937, 30 years after his death. It features St. Gaudens profile on the front and has extremely high relief showing every detail. A perfect compliment to the St. Gaundens Doubel Eagle Gold Coin, or the American Gold Eagle.
